So I know most people don't want to hear about politics. But then I thought about it.....I really do. I really like politics and it is part of what makes me Nerdy.

Well, I found some of Matt Damon's opinions on the topic of the election and I thought I should share.

Spreading Stupidity

On my quest for nerdy interest across the net I find thousands of things that I always want to share. This time it is again another blog, however I am going to focus on a post that he had. The blog is Stupid Evil Bastard and he introduced me to a video clip that made me sad, angry, confident, and irritated all at the same time.

I couldn't honestly believe it. This just reaffirm the fact there are people out there that would rather look to "faith" rather than find truth. That is the way that I see it anyway. When the thought of pouring through articles and research to find answers, it is easier to look to religion and judge those that have found more concrete answers. Wow!!! This makes me so angry and so sad for this guy. I still can't honestly believe it and after much research I found out that this wasn't a parody but real. This guy really believes this. Ok....I have to leave this alone, you can see where I am coming from.

The Next Best Thing

Yes, the title is also another great reality TV show. Though, sadly, I was unable to catch this one the first time around and am disappointed since I have really enjoyed catching the episodes on You Tube.

Along this line I wanted to share with you another aspect of my nerdiness. I have always been fascinated with celebrity impersonators in the fact that they are dedicating their lives to trying to look and act like some one they have probably never even met. I think it is a fascinating cultural phenomenon that I am not sure is cross cultural. On the other hand, I have also always found drag queens particularly intriguing and hilarious. The fact that they are so taboo in the U.S. and confuse so many people (do I say he or she, is it a guy or a girl) yet is something that is found in hundreds of different cultures around the world, people in the U.S. seem to have the biggest problems with it. In this regard we have the most advanced society that is the most closed minded on the issue. I have been to many a drag show and always find it culturally fascinating.

Ok, so combine these two cultural phenomenons and you will find one of my nerdy obsessions. If you are in this same boat then you would have probably heard of Derrick Barry. He is one hell of an amazing drag queen and celebrity impersonators. He is the top Britney Spears impersonators in the world and is amazingly realistic. The Nerdiness Thickens

So a buddy of mine came over to play Wii last night and I realized that that in and of itself is pretty dorky for two 24 year old guys. On top of that, I realized that I am a reality TV junky. Before we started driving the Mario Cart around the tracks I talked my friend through the four reality TV shows that I was alternating between. For some reason I just really get sucked into these shows and while I do no plan my day around TV, if I find a reality show while I am wasting time in front of the tube, I will become engulfed in it. Last night I found Greatest American Dog, America's Got Talent, Wife Swap, and So You Think You Can Dance. I have to say though that I have watched the full seasons of American Idol, Nashville Star, The Next Food Network Star, Little People Big World, Deadliest Catch, Last Comic Standing, and sometimes catch I Survived a Japanese Game show.


So my nerdiness is expanding at a rapid rate, and even more I use these shows as an insight into different people's personalities and cultures. In a way it all comes around to being an anthropologist where everything I do is a matter of experimentation and observation.

Few people know, including my wife, how much I really like Batman. I had many of the comics growing up, all of the action figures, and have watched all the movies hundreds of times. The original Batman movie with Michael Keaton, Kim Basinger, and Jack Nicholson is my all time favorite. While I am very excited by the release of today's new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, I am still a little apprehensive. I know they are not supposed to be the same, but the character that Jack Nicholson brought to the screen is "my Joker" and I am not sure if Heath will be able to live up to my expectations. Here is a recap of Joker over the years just in case you are a little rusty.
